Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)
- Extra flour for dusting
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, stirring with a wooden spoon or hand mixer until a dough begins to form. - Knead the Dough:
Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes soft and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, gradually add more flour until smooth and manageable. - Let the Dough Rise:
Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size. - Shape the Flatbreads:
Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down. Divide it into 8-10 equal portions and roll each portion into a small ball. Then, flatten each ball into a circle about 1/4 inch thick. - Cook the Flatbreads:
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place each flatbread onto the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and puffed. The flatbread should have a few brown spots and be slightly crispy on the outside while remaining soft on the inside. - Brush with Butter and Herbs:
Once the flatbreads are cooked, brush them with melted butter (if using) and sprinkle the chopped parsley on top for a burst of fresh herb flavor.
Enjoy these soft, fluffy, and flavorful flatbreads as a perfect snack or accompaniment to any meal!
